“Katy is hands down the best photographer there is! In the earliest stage of planning my wedding, Katy had come highly recommended to me. I hadn’t even picked a venue, but I knew I wanted Katy to capture our day. As we moved into booking with her, I could see why she was recommended (obviously aside from the art she creates). She was so professional and easy to work with. She always had very prompt responses. She made you feel like you’ve been best friends with her for years!
When we made it to the engagement picture shoot, my husband and I were so nervous. Neither of us have ever felt comfortable in front of the camera. I dont know how she does it, but Katy had us completely at ease. We felt like we belonged in front of the camera! Not only did we feel that way, but when we saw the pictures it looked like we really knew what we were doing. Katy is an expert at posing you, even if it feels or seems weird, it’s worth it! She knows what she’s doing!
Fast forward to the wedding itself! Katy was so organized by having me fill out a questionnaire about certain shots, etc. It made things run very smooth the day of the wedding. She pulled us aside for some beautiful shots as the night went on! She even joined us on the dance floor for a bit!
All of this long-winded review to say, if you're a bride or groom looking for a photographer, Katy is your girl. If you want someone who will be prompt (heck, she even replied to an email I sent on her vacation!!! (I felt SO bad about that)), alleviate all stress you may have (about pictures & timeline of the day), & truly become a great friend then there is truly no better choice than Katy. I was once told, “When planning your wedding, choose your photographer wisely. Other than the marriage itself, the pictures are all you have left of the day of.” As much as I love the pictures today, I know I’ll love them even more in 50 years!”

“We truly could not have asked for a better photographer for our engagement shoot and our wedding day. To put it simply, if you want an adventurous photographer who does absolutely beautiful work (natural but artistic posing and editing styles) and is a breeze to work with, you can't go wrong with choosing Katy. If you want to read more about details of our experience, keep reading. For our engagement shoot, my wife decided that she wanted to do it at Wayah Bald, which isn't particularly close to us or to Katy. However, Katy was excited to shoot there, and she happily made the trek. We were cranky from the long car ride, and not in the best mood to start an engagement shoot. When we arrived, it started raining, which just made it worse. Katy handled it so incredibly well, made the most out of the rainy pictures, and put us in a better mood no problem. The pictures from our engagement shoot are absolutely stunning! Leading up to our wedding (which was postponed due to Covid), Katy was super helpful and responsive with any question I had, even if not related to photography at all. I didn't have a planner and we were planning the wedding from out of town, so this was super helpful and much appreciated. On the day of our wedding, things were going okay but our flowers were over 5 hours late, among many other issues with the flowers. I was kind of bummed about it, but when I saw Katy pull up, I immediately felt relieved and excited to start documenting our day. I'm not sure what it was about that moment, but I didn't even care about the flowers anymore! Katy really put me at ease and I will forever be thankful for that. The wedding photos turned out stunning, of course, and we are ordering prints for around our house. Katy's second shooter, Meisha, was also great to work with and super talented. I'd also say that there were some things we told Katy to watch out for (I think my arms look fat and my wife does a "fake smile"), and she really paid attention to our requests. Sorry for the novel, but I truly can't say enough good things about Katy and she deserves a glowing review. We will hands down be traveling back to TN in the future for shoots with her because she's just that talented.”

“Katy was the photographer for my wedding just outside Johnson City, Tennessee in April, 2021. My wife and I would choose her again 10 times out of 10. She is very professional, fun to work with, and most importantly the quality of her photos is top-notch. If you're looking for a high-quality, low-maintenance wedding photography experience, this is the one to go with. My wife found out about Katy by finding some of her wedding/elopement photos on Instagram. We were from out of state, and we booked Katy because it seemed like she had a lot of experience capturing the mountain wedding experience we wanted. Katy was available for an engagement session in December and gave us the option of a few sports for photos. Those choices demonstrated a good knowledge of the best photo spots in the Johnson City area but also gave us a good variety of options. Our engagement session was fun and the photos looked great! Katy was also very prompt in getting the finalized photos to us. The process for getting set up with Katy was really easy. She has a survey that you complete that helps you figure out what you actually want and helps to get Katy on the same page. She also supplies a contract that outlines everything thoroughly and professionally, but after working with Katy, you'll find that there isn't much to worry about. Being from out of state, Katy was instrumental in the planning of our wedding day, especially with regards to the scheduling of "first look" and wedding party photos relative to the ceremony. Katy's blog was also useful for finding vendors that were popular at other weddings; for example, we found our cake/dessert caterer from her blog. For the wedding itself, we chose an option that included a second photographer. Katy coordinated the second photographer for us and made a good choice. Originally, our plan was to have Katy meet us at a spot in the mountains (which she suggested to us), but the weather shrouded the mountains in fog. Katy was quick to suggest an alternative location for wedding photos that also captured the experience we wanted. The wedding photos, of which there were many, were exactly what we wanted. She provided a sneak peak of the wedding photos soon after the wedding, and then the full gallery of photos within a reasonable time frame. There were no horror stories about having to pester the photographer for updates. Katy was excellent and should be a considered when looking to hire in this area.”

“I started following Katy on Instagram long before we ever got engaged. I loved the idea of an adventure elopement wedding but living in Ohio left limited possibilities for landscapes with mountains. Katy’s images of weddings in the Tennessee mountains gave me hope that I could have the wedding I dreamed of but closer to home than the PNW.
Katy was the first vendor I booked because she was the one I cared about the most. From her previous weddings, I was able to find our perfect wedding venue, Sugar Hollow Retreat. She felt like a friend from the first time we spoke and made sure to have a good connection with both me and my husband before the wedding. Our adventure elopement turned into a fairly big wedding and then scaled back down to a perfect size of 50 people due to the pandemic.

“We LOVED having Katy as our wedding photographer this past October! She's lovely, both as a professional and as a person. Her work is absolutely stunning and we knew our own photos would be no different! You can tell that Katy loves what she does and throws her whole heart into every wedding. On wedding day, she was amazing, laid-back and professional! We had a first look and the whole event was exactly what we could hope, getting to share a special moment together beforehand, but having moments to capture it.
