Southern Maryland: Emma + Justin's Bayside Coastal Wedding at Woodlawn Farm

Emma and Justin’s wedding day in Southern Maryland is one I’ll truly never forget.

I first met Emma years ago when I was working as a sales associate at an Under Armour store right after I graduated college and was trying to get my feet underneath me in photography. Emma was my amazing store manager and absolutely rocked it. We have so many memories and late nights at that store! She also has been such an inspiration to me as to what makes a strong leader. Fast forward a few years— I saw Emma’s inquiry come into my inbox and I jumped with excitement! She told me about her fiance [at the time], Justin, and their dreamy wedding that they were planning in Southern Maryland. Of course, I was ecstatic to capture their day and a chance to visit my home state.

Before the wedding, I drove to Pennsylvania to visit my mom for a few days. I then made the trek to Southern Maryland to stay the night before the wedding. As you will see below, I had the chance to stay at the cutest motel just down the road from the venue. Southern Maryland has such a coastal charm and the mild November weather welcomed me back to the state with open arms.

Emma and Justin got married at a beautiful historic home called Woodlawn Estate. It was the first deeded property in Maryland by Lord Baltimore II for his brother Leonard Calvert, the first governor of Maryland (source: Woodlawn Estate), and holds quite a bit of history. It’s nestled off of the Potomac River, right where it meets the Chesapeake Bay, in the southern tip of the state. This venue is also where her sister got married a few years before, so it has sentimental value as well!

Emma got ready in the historic home while the guys got ready at a nearby Air Bnb. These two had such a sweet first look under one of the home’s large trees with the breeze coming off the water. After their first look, they became husband and wife at their waterfront ceremony as the sun bounced off of the waves. We all celebrated later in the evening in the beautiful barn and danced to many 00’s kids classics, including lots of Blink 182! Emma and Justin’s friends and family were so welcoming and fun and you could tell that they loved supporting these two and their journey ahead!

Congratulations, Justin and Emma! I am so incredibly happy for you two! I had an absolute blast capturing your day and it was an honor to be a part of the memories!

Vendors who made their day amazing:

Before you dive into their beautiful wedding day, I also wanted to share a few travel behind-the-scenes photos! Emma and Justin graciously booked my acommodations at a place just down the road from their venue called The Quarters at Pier450! It is a little renovated motel and it is SO cute. It’s attached to a restaurant called Pier450 that has delicious coastal inspired food & drink. You can take your drinks out to their sandy beach area, as well, and relax by the water. I absolutely loved staying here and hope to go back and visit to explore the area further!
