Spring wedding season is just around the corner in the Southeast and with that comes a bit of unpredictable weather! As couples are planning their weddings for the year, we always hope and dream of the most beautiful, sunny, and perfect day. Of course, sometimes weβre not always lucky and Mother Nature throws us a rainy day. With that said, the good news is that there are plenty of ways to prepare and handle these rainy wedding days and make the best of the weather, with you, your guests, and photos in mind!
Nashville, TN: Leanne + Brianβs Rustic Woodland Wedding at Hachland Hill
Leanne and Brian became husband and wife at the gorgeous Hachland Hill in Nashville, Tennessee! Itβs a bed and breakfast meets venue meets gourmet farm-to-table dinner! Hachland Hill not only has a vineyard, but also an amazing on-site chef, two beautiful inns, and an amazing tobacco barn with a patio for the reception. Spring was really showing off this weekend, as plenty of trees and plants had bloomed, giving us the perfect color for their day.
Southern Maryland: Emma + Justin's Bayside Coastal Wedding at Woodlawn Farm
Emma and Justin got married at a beautiful, historic, and coastal home in Southern Maryland-- Woodlawn Estate. Itβs nestled off of the Potomac River, right where it meets the Chesapeake Bay, in the southern tip of the state. I loved traveling back to my home state to capture their beautiful fall wedding day and celebrate with them! Their waterfront ceremony was truly a special day that I'll never forget!
Banner Elk, NC: Holly + Tyler's Fun Summer Engagement Session in Downtown Banner Elk
Holly and Tyler are high school sweethearts and such a fun couple! They call themselves βweekend warriors,β and love taking weekend trips to the mountains to explore and get away for a few days! One of their favorite places to visit is downtown Banner Elk, North Carolina, as itβs just a hop and skip over the TN/NC border and just far enough to get away for a few days. When Holly told me about their trips, I figured it would be the best place to take their engagement photos since itβs so special to them! I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in June!

Goodbye, 2022β¦
Wow, guys! Itβs been an incredible year, to say the least, and I canβt believe a new one is just around the corner!
At the end of every year, I tend to get a bit sentimental and emotional looking back and thinking of all of the amazing things accomplished, places traveled to, new people met, and memories made. This year was no exception! 2022 has been a bit of a rollercoasterβ definitely been one of the busiest but also most rewarding years in my business yet. All in all, Iβm just so incredibly grateful.

Gaithersburg, MD: Sarah + Brandon's Intimate Fall Backyard Wedding
Sarah and Brandonβs wedding day is one that I keep close to my heart!
Sarah is the sister to my good friend, Elizabeth, who Iβve known since middle school! Elizabeth and her now-husband, Jeff, eloped in Las Vegas the year before and flew me out to capture their day with their family. Iβve met Sarah before the elopement but was able to hang out with her and Brandon more in Vegas. When we left, she said, βIβll contact you about our wedding in May!β Of course, I was ecstatic. When we got back, we planned their May wedding and set it on the calendar. Little did we know that Covid would soon hit and change everything about 2020βs spring season.
Thankfully, Sarah and Brandon were able to reschedule for October and they had the most beautiful day!

The Side Porch: Kinzie + Zack's Elegant and Rainy Summer Wedding in East Tennessee
Zack and Kinzie finally became husband and wife on a balmy July day at one of my favorite venues here in Johnson Cityβ The Side Porch! When my second shooter, Sam, and I arrived, it was certainly hot and humid but the forecast had appeared clear. After everyone was ready, we captured a super sweet first look in the forest where Zack and Kinzie said private vows. Immediately after, as we were gearing up for the ceremony, a huge rain cloud loomed over the venue. Everyone hopped into gear and brought the ceremony inside in minutes where Zack and Kinzie would finally become husband and wife! Talk about an adventure, but what a story to tell!
Johnson City, TN: Kelsey + Eric's Cold Winter Lakeside Engagement Session
We met up back in January for Kelsey and Ericβs engagement session while they were in town visiting their venue. At the time, they had planned on getting married in May, but thanks to Covid, they had to reschedule their big day for September. Because Kelsey and Eric were in town for a brief weekend, we had to squeeze in their engagement session on one of the coldest days of the year, but these two were troopers and dressed for the occasion.! We explored one of our local lakes here and were even lucky enough to get some snowflakes. They even brought their two dogs Kona and Bailey (who I absolutely love)!
