Greeneville, TN: Amber + Kit's Winter Intimate Wedding at the Nolichuckey Bluffs Glass Chapel
Amber & Kit’s wedding day was so beautiful and intimate. The day before, it was probably 30 degrees and the mountains were topped with snow. The day of? A warm 50-60 degrees. Talk about whacky Tennessee weather, but it was perfect for their day. We kicked things off with a sweet little first look in the drive up to the Chapel. Their closest family members and friends then joined us in the glass chapel for their sweet ceremony. After officially becoming husband and wife, we took advantage of the beautiful view next to the chapel and took some portraits while overlooking the Nolichuckey. Kit and Amber then ended the day with an intimate dessert reception at the next-door cabin. Amber said that she had always wanted a winter wedding and I believe she got exactly that (minus some snow, hehe). I loved her winter decor touches, especially the wreaths on the doors of the chapel.
Gaithersburg, MD: Sarah + Brandon's Intimate Fall Backyard Wedding
Sarah and Brandon’s wedding day is one that I keep close to my heart!
Sarah is the sister to my good friend, Elizabeth, who I’ve known since middle school! Elizabeth and her now-husband, Jeff, eloped in Las Vegas the year before and flew me out to capture their day with their family. I’ve met Sarah before the elopement but was able to hang out with her and Brandon more in Vegas. When we left, she said, “I’ll contact you about our wedding in May!” Of course, I was ecstatic. When we got back, we planned their May wedding and set it on the calendar. Little did we know that Covid would soon hit and change everything about 2020’s spring season.
Thankfully, Sarah and Brandon were able to reschedule for October and they had the most beautiful day!
The Pond House, Erwin, TN: A Bright + Bohemian Summer Wedding Styled Shoot in the Tennessee Mountains
Summer is in full swing over here in Northeast Tennessee and I am absolutely loving it! It has me reminiscing back on this beautiful styled shoot that I was able to organize with some of the best wedding vendors here in Johnson City, Tennessee!
Full transparency— last year, I felt myself feeling quite burnt out. It comes and goes in waves and usually when creatives are stressed out or doing things repetitively. To help fight the burnout and increase creativity, photographers will often try to get out of their normal rhythm and will shoot something for themselves or start personal projects. For me, I had never set up my own styled shoot— I had only attended ones organized and created by others. This was definitely a bit out of my comfort zone, but was such a fun experience!
Johnson City, TN: Rachel + Ryan's Intimate Backyard Wedding
They may have had a change of plans, but Ryan and Rachel didn’t let Covid-19 stop them from getting married. In the safety of their family’s home, these two said their vows in the backyard surrounded by just their parents and their two best friends. Other family members attended virtually through Zoom to congratulate them after officially becoming husband and wife! Rachel and Ryan both could NOT contain their smiles and just radiated happiness all day!
Sevierville, TN: Stacy + Jason's Intimate Mountain Cabin Wedding at Parkside Resort and The Magnolia Venue
Stacy and Jason came all of the way from Michigan to get married in the beautiful mountains of Tennessee. They rented a huge cabin at Parkside Resort for their family and friends to stay, and to hold their intimate ceremony! After a super sweet first look, we drove to the Magnolia Venue for more breathtaking views. We arrived back just in time for family portraits and their ceremony on the back porch, overlooking the Smokies.
Bristol, VA: Coby + Gretchen's Intimate Woodsy Wedding at Sugar Hollow Park
I arrived at Sugar Hollow Park in Bristol early that morning to see the ceremony site set up next to the creek at the campground and the trees were shading the chairs perfectly. After Coby and Gretchen exchanged vows, rings and the first kiss, they were finally husband and wife! After the ceremony, I took Coby and Gretchen around Sugar Hollow Park on a mission to find the infamous, “Black Forest,” that has pine trees in symmetrical lines, for portraits. When we arrived back to the campground and pavilion everyone had barbecue for lunch from Bristol BBQ. After cutting the cake, we all jumped into the creek to cool off, where, of course, I HAD to get some portraits of Gretchen and Coby in the water!
Seneca Creek State Park, MD: Lizzy + Rob's Intimate Rainy Woodland Wedding
This year has been one of the rainiest wedding seasons I've ever experienced! When it became apparent that there was a 100% chance of rain, I began to pray for a mist instead of a downpour. Luckily, the rain turned into a mist just in time for Lizzy to arrive at Seneca Creek State Park. After saying their vows surrounded by just close family and friends, Lizzy and Rob became husband and wife under Seneca's giant pine trees. We then explored the trails and took photos by the lake.
