Sugar Hollow Retreat: Alexis + Alec’s Rainy Smoky mountain wedding in Butler, Tennessee

A Magical Rainy Mountain Wedding at Sugar Hollow Retreat in Butler, Tennessee

By now, I'm no stranger to rainy wedding days and have really grown to love how magical they can be! Alexis and Alec's wedding day at Sugar Hollow Retreat was no exception to that!

Everyone gathered in the misty mountains to surround Alexis and Alec with love as they became husband and wife! We kicked off the day with clouds in the distance, which we hoped would hold off for us. Of course, after everyone was dressed and ready, the skies opened up for the first look. We used Sugar Hollow’s porches to our advantage, that’s for sure! We did a sweet first look with Alexis and her bridesmaids, then trekked to the Sitton House for one with her dad and Alec’s mom. Once they had seen their parents, Alexis and Alec saw each other for the first time and read their vows as the rain POURED around them.

After their vows and portraits, we made our way back to Overmountain Hall for the ceremony. We hoped there would be a break in the rain, but got lucky with a drizzle! One thing (among many)that I love about Sugar Hollow is that they have a large amount of umbrellas that they allow guests to use in case of a rainy ceremony! We made use of this amenity and carried on as usual! Their flower dog, Boyne, made his presence known with his fluff, too!

After everything became official, the rain subsided and gave us the most beautiful fog over the mountains. We took a few more portraits with the beautiful backdrop, then danced the night away under the twinkle lights at the reception.

Congratulations, Alexis and Alec! Your day was truly special!
