Nashville, TN: Leanne + Brianโs Rustic Woodland Wedding at Hachland Hill
Leanne and Brian became husband and wife at the gorgeous Hachland Hill in Nashville, Tennessee! Itโs a bed and breakfast meets venue meets gourmet farm-to-table dinner! Hachland Hill not only has a vineyard, but also an amazing on-site chef, two beautiful inns, and an amazing tobacco barn with a patio for the reception. Spring was really showing off this weekend, as plenty of trees and plants had bloomed, giving us the perfect color for their day.
The Pond House, Erwin, TN: A Bright + Bohemian Summer Wedding Styled Shoot in the Tennessee Mountains
Summer is in full swing over here in Northeast Tennessee and I am absolutely loving it! It has me reminiscing back on this beautiful styled shoot that I was able to organize with some of the best wedding vendors here in Johnson City, Tennessee!
Full transparencyโ last year, I felt myself feeling quite burnt out. It comes and goes in waves and usually when creatives are stressed out or doing things repetitively. To help fight the burnout and increase creativity, photographers will often try to get out of their normal rhythm and will shoot something for themselves or start personal projects. For me, I had never set up my own styled shootโ I had only attended ones organized and created by others. This was definitely a bit out of my comfort zone, but was such a fun experience!
Your Wedding Day: What Really Goes Into Being a Wedding Photographer
As engagement season is upon us and as more couples start to research and book vendors, and start the wedding planning process, I thought it would be the perfect time to share just exactly what us photographers do when you book us for your special day! Wedding photography can often seem like a photographer will just show up on the wedding day and click a button- but Iโm here to tell you that as a professional, we do SO much more than that! I know that wedding photography is a huge investment and takes a big percentage of a coupleโs budget when it comes to their wedding day. I want to walk you through the process and share a little behind-the-scenes information of what goes into being a wedding photographer!
The Side Porch: Kinzie + Zack's Elegant and Rainy Summer Wedding in East Tennessee
Zack and Kinzie finally became husband and wife on a balmy July day at one of my favorite venues here in Johnson Cityโ The Side Porch! When my second shooter, Sam, and I arrived, it was certainly hot and humid but the forecast had appeared clear. After everyone was ready, we captured a super sweet first look in the forest where Zack and Kinzie said private vows. Immediately after, as we were gearing up for the ceremony, a huge rain cloud loomed over the venue. Everyone hopped into gear and brought the ceremony inside in minutes where Zack and Kinzie would finally become husband and wife! Talk about an adventure, but what a story to tell!
Johnson City, TN: Kelsey + Eric's Cold Winter Lakeside Engagement Session
We met up back in January for Kelsey and Ericโs engagement session while they were in town visiting their venue. At the time, they had planned on getting married in May, but thanks to Covid, they had to reschedule their big day for September. Because Kelsey and Eric were in town for a brief weekend, we had to squeeze in their engagement session on one of the coldest days of the year, but these two were troopers and dressed for the occasion.! We explored one of our local lakes here and were even lucky enough to get some snowflakes. They even brought their two dogs Kona and Bailey (who I absolutely love)!
Best of 2019: Behind-The-Scenes: A Lot of Work and a Little Play
Iโm a little late on blogging my behind-the-scenes photos from 2019, but Iโm hoping that this blog brings some smiles, laughs, and uplifts your day just a little. Huge thanks to call of my couples, second shooters, fellow wedding vendors, and my amazing friends and family who made 2019 one hell of a year.
The Waterstone Venue: Ashley + Logan's Rustic Navy and Coral Outdoors Wedding
This day and this couple. I have been dreaming about Ashley and Loganโs wedding day since I met Ashley for coffee and it was truly magical! Logan and Ashley became husband and wife at one of the newest venues in our areaโ the Waterstone Venue! Even though it was mid-September, their day was partly sunny and almost 90 degrees! The day was humid and hazy, but that didnโt keep Ashley and Logan from having the most amazing wedding day!
5 Tips on What to Wear to your Adventurous Engagement, Anniversary or Couple's Session
Spring is finally here, which means the grass is turning green, the trees are budding, birds are chirping, and of course, engagement sessions! I absolutely love shooting engagement, anniversary, and couple's sessions with my adventurous couples. It's so fun to explore, hang out, get to know each other and enjoy nature without the added pressure of a timeline on a wedding day!
Since these sessions aren't appointments that we regularly schedule, I know it can sometimes feel awkward to be in front of the lens (I still am). That's what I'm here for- to guide you and help make your session a comfortable and fun experience for both you and your fiancรฉ/significant other! One of the best ways to feel more comfortable at the session is to plan out what you'll be wearing.
Of course, most of the photos you see below are from engagement sessions, but I wanted to note that it translates to anniversary or couple's sessions as well! Any portrait session where there are two of you to coordinate/prepare!
Butler, TN: Zach + Daisy's Rustic and Rainy Wedding at Sugar Hollow Retreat
Daisy and Zach were married at the lodge at Sugar Hollow Retreat in Butler, Tennessee. The original plan had been to have the ceremony on the lawn and reception under the tent, but Mother Nature had other plans! We all kept glancing at the weather radars, silently hoping there would be a break in the rain. The forecast didn't give any sign of it giving up, so Daisy made the decision to go for Plan B and moved the ceremony under the tent. Shortly after, the two said, "I do," to the sound of raindrops pattering on the tent and underneath the twinkling string lights. Talk about a romantic way to become husband and wife!
