The Millstone: Shay + David's Rustic Fall Wedding Day with their Golden Retriever Ring Bearer
Shay and David became husband and wife at one of East Tennesseeโs most unique venuesโ The Millstone! The Millstone is an old grist flour mill that has been transformed into a stunning wedding venue. The reception space is enclosed by repurposed glass windows, too, giving it a rustic, almost greenhouse, feel! David and Shay celebrated with their family, friends, and ring bearer golden retriever, Murphy, who most definitely stole the show! Talk about the most perfect Tennessee wedding day!
Brevard, NC: Aimee + Gus' Summer Mountain Wedding at Pilot Cove
Aimee and Gusโ wedding day will always have a special place in my heart and was such a beautiful end of Summer!
These two adventurous souls became husband and wife in the heart of Pisgah Forest at the gorgeous Pilot Cove Cabins and Amphitheater. Aimee and Gus are both avid outdoor lovers and athletes. Aimee is an amazing ultra runner and Gus loves to mountain bikeโ so it was only fitting to exchange vows in the mountains they love surrounded by their closest friends and family. After exchanging vows and rings, and sharing their first kiss, Aimee and Gus celebrated in true Aimee and Gus fashion with a laid-back outdoor reception with plenty of wildflowers and PIZZA.
Greenville, SC: Sam + Ken's Downtown Greenville Date Night Engagement Session
Sam and Ken live in Greenville, South Carolina, and love to visit the restaurants and breweries downtown!
When we first started talking about their engagement session, we tried to think of some scenic locations nearby, as those are usually my go-to being the outdoors lover that I am. I also always love incorporating places or things that are sentimental or important to the coupleโ places that are significant in their journey (first date location/where they got engaged etc.) or places they love to go together. With that in mind, we decided to meet up downtown and do a little โdate night,โ themed session, and I absolutely loved it!
Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023: Behind-the-Scenes Moments of Katy Sergent Photography
Goodbye, 2022โฆ
Wow, guys! Itโs been an incredible year, to say the least, and I canโt believe a new one is just around the corner!
At the end of every year, I tend to get a bit sentimental and emotional looking back and thinking of all of the amazing things accomplished, places traveled to, new people met, and memories made. This year was no exception! 2022 has been a bit of a rollercoasterโ definitely been one of the busiest but also most rewarding years in my business yet. All in all, Iโm just so incredibly grateful.
The Pond House, Erwin, TN: A Bright + Bohemian Summer Wedding Styled Shoot in the Tennessee Mountains
Summer is in full swing over here in Northeast Tennessee and I am absolutely loving it! It has me reminiscing back on this beautiful styled shoot that I was able to organize with some of the best wedding vendors here in Johnson City, Tennessee!
Full transparencyโ last year, I felt myself feeling quite burnt out. It comes and goes in waves and usually when creatives are stressed out or doing things repetitively. To help fight the burnout and increase creativity, photographers will often try to get out of their normal rhythm and will shoot something for themselves or start personal projects. For me, I had never set up my own styled shootโ I had only attended ones organized and created by others. This was definitely a bit out of my comfort zone, but was such a fun experience!
The Waterstone Venue: Ashley + Logan's Rustic Navy and Coral Outdoors Wedding
This day and this couple. I have been dreaming about Ashley and Loganโs wedding day since I met Ashley for coffee and it was truly magical! Logan and Ashley became husband and wife at one of the newest venues in our areaโ the Waterstone Venue! Even though it was mid-September, their day was partly sunny and almost 90 degrees! The day was humid and hazy, but that didnโt keep Ashley and Logan from having the most amazing wedding day!
Kingsport, TN: Lakyn + Neal's Backyard Summer Engagement Session
I met Lakyn through a local photography group and asked her to second shoot a wedding with me out of town. We spent the weekend chatting about all of our favorite things and have since become close friends! I was incredibly honored (and ecstatic) when she asked me to be her wedding photographer!
I met up with Lakyn and Neal for their engagement session at Lakyn's father's land in Kingsport that happens to be at the base of Bay's Mountain. Needless to say, it was right up my alley! We hiked through the fields and chased the sun, touched some questionable weeds and laughed the entire evening. We ended the session at her dadโs private pond and sat around a campfire as the stars came out.
Limestone, TN: Kayla + Aaron's Rustic Pastel Spring Wedding at the Millstone
Kayla and Aaron were married on a beautiful Spring day in April at the Millstone! The week prior had been pretty chilly, for Winter kept lingering and bringing us colder temperatures. Luckily, the sun came out and warmed us all on their wedding day! After lunch, Kayla put on her gorgeous, ivory and lace, Maggie Sottero gown and was ready for the first look. We then headed out to the lawn to meet Aaron, where she would see her husband-to-be for the first time. The two said, "I do," and kissed as husband and wife under the branch arbor! We then headed to the reception for delicious barbecue and cake to celebrate the newlyweds!
