Sugar Hollow Retreat: Alli + Alexβs Timeless Elegant May Mountain Wedding in Butler, Tennessee
Alli and Alex are married!! These two adventurous souls traveled all of the way from Colorado to the mountains of Tennessee to celebrate with their friends and family at Sugar Hollow Retreat in Butler, Tennessee.
The forecast kept saying that rain was on the way, but luckily held out for us for most of the day. The clouds eventually broke and gave us a steady drizzle for their vows. Being as adventurous as they are, Alex and Alli chose to have the ceremony outside despite the rain and it was truly magical!
Banner Elk, NC: Holly + Tyler's Fun Summer Engagement Session in Downtown Banner Elk
Holly and Tyler are high school sweethearts and such a fun couple! They call themselves βweekend warriors,β and love taking weekend trips to the mountains to explore and get away for a few days! One of their favorite places to visit is downtown Banner Elk, North Carolina, as itβs just a hop and skip over the TN/NC border and just far enough to get away for a few days. When Holly told me about their trips, I figured it would be the best place to take their engagement photos since itβs so special to them! I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in June!
Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023: Behind-the-Scenes Moments of Katy Sergent Photography
Goodbye, 2022β¦
Wow, guys! Itβs been an incredible year, to say the least, and I canβt believe a new one is just around the corner!
At the end of every year, I tend to get a bit sentimental and emotional looking back and thinking of all of the amazing things accomplished, places traveled to, new people met, and memories made. This year was no exception! 2022 has been a bit of a rollercoasterβ definitely been one of the busiest but also most rewarding years in my business yet. All in all, Iβm just so incredibly grateful.
Johnson City, TN: Kelsey + Eric's Cold Winter Lakeside Engagement Session
We met up back in January for Kelsey and Ericβs engagement session while they were in town visiting their venue. At the time, they had planned on getting married in May, but thanks to Covid, they had to reschedule their big day for September. Because Kelsey and Eric were in town for a brief weekend, we had to squeeze in their engagement session on one of the coldest days of the year, but these two were troopers and dressed for the occasion.! We explored one of our local lakes here and were even lucky enough to get some snowflakes. They even brought their two dogs Kona and Bailey (who I absolutely love)!
Best of 2019: Behind-The-Scenes: A Lot of Work and a Little Play
Iβm a little late on blogging my behind-the-scenes photos from 2019, but Iβm hoping that this blog brings some smiles, laughs, and uplifts your day just a little. Huge thanks to call of my couples, second shooters, fellow wedding vendors, and my amazing friends and family who made 2019 one hell of a year.
The Waterstone Venue: Ashley + Logan's Rustic Navy and Coral Outdoors Wedding
This day and this couple. I have been dreaming about Ashley and Loganβs wedding day since I met Ashley for coffee and it was truly magical! Logan and Ashley became husband and wife at one of the newest venues in our areaβ the Waterstone Venue! Even though it was mid-September, their day was partly sunny and almost 90 degrees! The day was humid and hazy, but that didnβt keep Ashley and Logan from having the most amazing wedding day!
Blue Ridge Parkway: Ashley + Logan's Breathtaking Windy Mountain Engagement Session
I kicked off the year with Ashley and Loganβs engagement session, and let me say- we started with a bang! Iβve wanted to shoot on the Blue Ridge Parkway for a few years now, and when I first pitched a list of locations to Ashley, I was silently hoping theyβd pick the parkway. Needless to say, they made my parkway dreams come true! We had a blast laughing and hiking up to the view! I just love how these two make each other smile and laugh constantly. They are absolutely perfect for each other and itβs so easy to see just how much they care one another.
Your Wedding Day: 5 Reasons Why You Should Have a First Look
Day-of timelines are pretty important for planning your wedding day, and that includes deciding on having a first look or a more traditional timeline. From a photographerβs perspective, and having been a bride myself, I am personally a huge fan of first looks! My husband and I decided to do a first look for our own wedding and it was the best decision. We have never regretted it! With wedding season around the corner, I thought Iβd share my top 5 reasons to why you should consider having a first look on your wedding day!
Appalachian Mountains: Kaity + Kyle's Sunset Engagement Session at the Beauty Spot in the Unaka Mountains
Kaity and Kyle drove from Middle Tennessee to meet up with me at one of my favorite mountain locations- The Beauty Spot. Located in the heart of the Unaka Mountains, the Beauty Spot always lives up to itβs name and this night was no exception! When we first arrived, the sun was out, but dark clouds loomed over the mountains headed our way. We shot for a while, always keeping an eye on the clouds. Eventually, the clouds passed right over the Beauty Spot, but thankfully not even a drop of rain fell! We finished the evening laughing, getting to know each other, sharing stories and enjoying a bright pink sunset on the bald.
Limestone, TN: Kayla + Aaron's Rustic Fall Engagement at the Millstone
Kayla and Aaron are getting married at the Millstone in Limestone, Tennessee this coming Spring! We jumped at the opportunity to catch the last bit of Fall and explored the grounds of the venue for their engagement session. It was unseasonably warm, so we were able to spend the whole evening there just laughing about Aaron's top 5 pizza toppings and chatting about wedding details! When the sun faded, I got on Spotify and played 'Perfect' and let them dance under the patio lights! It was a magical way to end our evening!
