Brevard, NC: Aimee + Gus' Summer Mountain Wedding at Pilot Cove
Aimee and Gusβ wedding day will always have a special place in my heart and was such a beautiful end of Summer!
These two adventurous souls became husband and wife in the heart of Pisgah Forest at the gorgeous Pilot Cove Cabins and Amphitheater. Aimee and Gus are both avid outdoor lovers and athletes. Aimee is an amazing ultra runner and Gus loves to mountain bikeβ so it was only fitting to exchange vows in the mountains they love surrounded by their closest friends and family. After exchanging vows and rings, and sharing their first kiss, Aimee and Gus celebrated in true Aimee and Gus fashion with a laid-back outdoor reception with plenty of wildflowers and PIZZA.
Greenville, SC: Sam + Ken's Downtown Greenville Date Night Engagement Session
Sam and Ken live in Greenville, South Carolina, and love to visit the restaurants and breweries downtown!
When we first started talking about their engagement session, we tried to think of some scenic locations nearby, as those are usually my go-to being the outdoors lover that I am. I also always love incorporating places or things that are sentimental or important to the coupleβ places that are significant in their journey (first date location/where they got engaged etc.) or places they love to go together. With that in mind, we decided to meet up downtown and do a little βdate night,β themed session, and I absolutely loved it!
Greenwood Oaks Farm + Venue: Summer Garden, Retro Vintage and Boho Inspired Styled Wedding Shoot
Greenwood Oaks Farm + Venue is such a gem in the heart of Greeneville, Tennessee! Since their opening in 2020, theyβve been on my bucket list of venues to visit and work with! Their property is truly stunning and has so much to offer from their rustic ceremony sites, to the modern reception space, views of the mountains, flower fields, and of course, their beautiful pond!
Last year, when Meredith and Daniel (owners of Greenwood Oaks), reached out to me to see if I wanted to come together with them and Holly Davis of Menu Venue Events (amazing wedding planner and stylist) and create a fun, styled, photo shootout with local photographers, I jumped at the opportunity!
Banner Elk, NC: Holly + Tyler's Fun Summer Engagement Session in Downtown Banner Elk
Holly and Tyler are high school sweethearts and such a fun couple! They call themselves βweekend warriors,β and love taking weekend trips to the mountains to explore and get away for a few days! One of their favorite places to visit is downtown Banner Elk, North Carolina, as itβs just a hop and skip over the TN/NC border and just far enough to get away for a few days. When Holly told me about their trips, I figured it would be the best place to take their engagement photos since itβs so special to them! I cannot wait to photograph their wedding in June!
Goodbye 2022, Hello 2023: Behind-the-Scenes Moments of Katy Sergent Photography
Goodbye, 2022β¦
Wow, guys! Itβs been an incredible year, to say the least, and I canβt believe a new one is just around the corner!
At the end of every year, I tend to get a bit sentimental and emotional looking back and thinking of all of the amazing things accomplished, places traveled to, new people met, and memories made. This year was no exception! 2022 has been a bit of a rollercoasterβ definitely been one of the busiest but also most rewarding years in my business yet. All in all, Iβm just so incredibly grateful.
The Lake House, Piney Flats, TN: Morgan's Elegant + Boho Lakeside Bridal Session
Bridal sessions have quickly become one of my favorite types of sessions that I offer! I absolutely love that my brides get to dress up in their dresses, test out their wedding day makeup and hairstyles, and we get to create some beautiful portraits! When Morgan asked me if we could do a bridal session prior to her wedding day at her venue, The Lake House, I of course jumped at the opportunity! I was so excited to see what style of dress Morgan had chosen and to finally see their gorgeous venue!
The Waterstone Venue: Emily + Christian's Boho and Elegant Summer Wedding
Emily and Christian's wedding day was nothing short of beautiful.
These two became husband and wife on the most perfect September day-- it was partly sunny and in the 70s with a breeze that reminded us that Fall is just around the corner. When I first arrived at the Waterstone venue, I saw both Emily and Christian while they were getting ready and asked how they were. They both responded with the biggest smiles and said, "Getting a little nervous, but excited!"
Happiness just radiated between these two and their families throughout the day. We were all in tears watching Emily read Christian's letter and then again when he first saw her walk down the aisle. It's obvious from their smiles just how much these two love and adore each other.
Greenville, SC: Holly + Mason's Navy Summer Wedding at the Pretty Place (Fred W. Symmes Chapel)
These two became husband and wife amongst friends, family, and the Blue Ridge Mountains on a beautiful summer night. Everyone traveled to a breathtaking outdoor chapel that sits high on top of a mountain on the NC/SC border, called The Pretty Place. I can tell you right now, that the name says it all.
When I arrived at the chapel, there was a breeze that greeted us as storms loomed in the distance! We really lucked out with going through all of the day's events without a few drops of rain, but as soon as Holly and Mason exited through the sparklers and we all packed up, the skies burst open as we all traveled home!
Sugar Hollow Retreat: Morgan + Meg's Elegant Navy Spring Wedding in the Mountains
Morgan and Meg were originally supposed to get married in the winter, but due to Covid, they decided to reschedule their wedding for May. I know that rescheduling was so tough on everyone, but honestly, I am SO glad that they decided to wait. Sunshine just showered down on us the entire day at Sugar Hollow Retreatβ everything was green and had finally bloomed. Truly, the mountains were truly showing off for them!
Johnson City, TN: Kendra + James' Misty Spring Navy + Sage Wedding at Watauga Highlands
April showers bring May flowers, and boy did April bring the rain to us! The night before the wedding, rain pushed into our area and was supposed to continue the whole day on Saturday. Knowing this, we packed and prepared accordingly with rain jackets and umbrellas in tow. When we arrived, the mountains were super misty and the clouds were hanging above, but Kendra and James were in the best spirits despite the weather. After we photographed the dress and invitation, the rain let up and gave us the perfect backdrop for a mountain wedding! We continued the day with a super sweet first look with vows, a trip to a local park with the bridal party for portraits by the lake, and then a beautiful ceremony under the covered patio (thank goodness for the backup plan)!
